What to expect
When you first get in touch, we will have a brief conversation on the phone or via email about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. I will be able to give you an indication whether I am able to support you in this, or if other forms of help might be more beneficial. If I am able to support you, I will invite you for an initial meeting in order to get a better sesne of whether we are a good match for therapy.
During this meeting, we will have a chance to explore further your reasons for seeking help. We will work collaboratively to clarify your goals and hopes, and we will discuss the best approach and direction to get you there. You will be able to ask questions and share any concerns about starting therapy. Most importantly, during this meeting, you will experience what therapy with me is like and whether you like the way I work, and we will both decide if we are a good fit.
If we decide to start therapy, I will send you a form to gather your contact details, brief family history, current medication, etc. All information is confidential as discussed below. Sessions are usually on a weekly basis. Regularity and consistency help to keep momentum going and provide ongoing support for when things get harder. You may feel like leaving therapy as soon as you notice positive changes or when you hit a hard spot. This is normal and I recommend that you speak to me about whatever comes up for you in the process.
Initial session is at the same rate as regular sessions.
I work with a 7-day cancellation policy. Cancellations made with 7 days’ notice will not be chargeable, otherwise the full fee in payable. The payments should be made to the bank account prior to our meeting. I provide receipts upon request.
Please rest assured that your inquiry, as well as our sessions, will be treated in confidence. Confidentiality is at the heart of building a safe and trusting space to explore sensitive and intimate issues. This is what makes the therapy relationship different to other relationships. The content of our conversations will remain confidential during your therapy and thereafter. There are some limitations to confidentiality and I will discuss them with you in our first meeting.
